Astrologers
frequently see charts where both the Sun and Moon of a person's natal
chart are located in one particular sign. I've decided to begin a
series of articles focusing on when this happens in each of the signs, a
further expansion of and an exploration of an article I had written some
time ago.
When someone speaks of being a "Double
________" (any sign of the Zodiac could be inserted in the blank) it is another way of saying that both the Sun and The
Moon were in the same Sign at the moment of birth. This would
always happen for a birth exactly at the New Moon, for example, and on
either side of the New Moon for the period of time that the Moon remains
in the same sign as the Sun.
The birth (natal) chart would confirm that the Sun and the
Moon share the same Sign. The
implications of such an arrangement would be a relatively congruous
combination of the anticipated energies. This serves to amplify and
dramatically emphasize the impact of the given sign in person's chart and
in his or her life.
The Sign placement of the Sun suggests the general
energetic focus of life purpose, the end to which we feel
driven. The Moon represents the character of our psychological needs
-- what we need on an emotional level in order to feel fulfilled.
So when we have both the Luminaries (the Sun and
the Moon) in the same Zodiac Sign, we would expect a highly focused
energy, a relatively well-defined direction that the individual will be
inclined to follow during his or her lifetime. When
both Luminaries share the same sign, we see arguably
the two most important points in the Horoscope operating along very much
the same lines. It gives us a sense of relatively "pure"
astrological energies.
This month we're looking at Double
Pisces.
The sign of Pisces often relates
to sensitivity which may be displayed across a wide range of
possible expression. This double-edged sword of sensitivity may, on the
downside, represent vulnerability. Others may be tempted to dump
all their problems on the Piscean person, who somehow feels obligated to
help and feels guilty when they do not or cannot.
On the more positive side, there's a
finely-tuned awareness that eludes most people. Subtleties are
amplified and may even seem blindingly obvious to Pisceans. Perhaps not
surprisingly, this being "in tune" includes prodigious artistic
or musical talents whose visions or creations are shared to inspire or
uplift those among us who are less personally gifted.
When both the Sun and Moon are in this
ultra-sensitive sign, a sense of responsibility to contribute something
socially, culturally, or spiritually may be pervasive. In extreme cases
this may even border on martyrdom.
Celebrities with Double Pisces include:1
Operatic virtuoso tenor Enrico Caruso who "captivated
audiences with his musical range and depth of feeling".
Classical composer Maurice Ravel whose masterpiece Bolero begins
with a barely-there, understated subtlety and climaxes with ferocity,
leaving the listener breathless, yet satiated.
Spanish guitarist Andres Segovia who, "beneath his bland,
avuncular exterior ...was a man of strong feelings."
Dionigi Tettamanzi, "a Roman Catholic Priest and Cardinal
who is mentioned as the possible heir to Pope John Paul II".
Jacinta Marto, a "Portuguese child noted
for the Miracle of Fatima, during which the sun appeared to spin and fall
from the sky, witnessed by 70,000 people on 10/13/1917."
Perhaps the greatest artist of all time, Michelangelo,
interestingly focused much of is work on and around religious subjects and
in the Sistine Chapel.
First lady Pat Nixon "whose good will and disposition"
that named her in Gallup polls among the nation's most admired women in
five separate years. Sadly, in her early home environment, "her
father in particular did not encourage open demonstrations of
emotion", no doubt presenting an exceptionally difficult
internalization of sensitivity for a Double Pisces.
Some darker examples of Double Pisces where deception and concealment
(both also Piscean traits) played a major role are:
Mass murderer John Wayne Gacy and "the night stalker" Ricardo
Ramirez.
