Can Astrology Determine My Life Purpose?

Now that's a difficult question.  The answer is a qualified "no".  Without your involvement, astrology can't predict your life purpose.  But the key word here is involvement.  While astrology can accurately identify strengths, talents, and challenges it cannot flawlessly determine your specific niche or your life purpose unless you are willingly and actively involved in the process.

A qualified astrologer can help you to better understand your unique strengths and challenges, but he/she can't decide for you what your mission in life should be.  The astrologer can help you to narrow your interests or realistically evaluate your options -- but again you have to be willing to commit the energy and focus to pursue your goals and to succeed.

By understanding what is suggested by our Horoscope, it's easier to assess what our potential is.  Potential, the "capability of development into actuality"1 is not a foregone conclusion, but rather within the realm of possibility.  Odds are that our full potential won't just magically fall into our lap without our active involvement.

Imagine for a moment that someone purporting to know such things told you that your life purpose was to be a famous surgeon.  But if you faint at the sight of blood and don't have the financial means or scholarship potential to attend medical school the chances are exceedingly slim that you would be motivated to succeed in that profession.

It's important that you come to identify where your passions lie.  What really gets you fired-up, motivated, excited?  If these interests can be linked with career possibilities, you're much more likely to succeed than if someone else were to choose what you should do.

We've all heard stories of children that were expected to follow parental directions when choosing a vocation or career.  Years ago, it was just assumed that the child would continue the father's craft or trade.  It was a foregone conclusion.

But life in today's world has changed dramatically.  Not only are there so many more career options, there are fewer limitations to what we can accomplish.

The uniqueness of our individual Horoscope offers many -- actually virtually unlimited -- possibilities for us as we decide what we want to become.  The choices are not always clear-cut and are rarely something that we would want to delegate to any other person.  This decision is so uniquely personal that we are obligated to choose for ourselves.  While others may offer suggestions or insight, it is ultimately up to us to make this decision.
