Presidential Candidates (Updated Sept. 2008)

Natal Midpoint Interpretations

Since the last midpoint evaluation of the presidential candidates on this site in May, the field has been narrowed to two major candidates and Barack Obama's birth certificate has been made public with a birth time of 7:24 pm AHT, Honolulu, HI ("AA" Rodden Rating on AstroDatabank).

As previously, for the purposes of this article, I've chosen to focus on three specific areas that I consider to be quite important.**  The following table interprets specific midpoint measurements that may help us to better understand the candidates and gain insight into their inherent strengths and challenges.

I have attempted to maintain strict objectivity in this analysis.  Interpretations are taken verbatim from my Midpoints book without the addition of any editorial comments. Changes and additions from the previous analysis are listed in red in the table below:

The challenge is to find a constructive outlet for unconventional energies and to express—rather than suppress—individuality while avoiding any unnecessarily disruptive or even self-destructive paths.

In this updated analysis, it is interesting to note that both McCain and Obama have the Jupiter/Midheaven midpoint associated with the Aries point the above table.  This same Jupiter/Midheaven Midpoint is also associated with the North Node in McCain's chart and with an unaspected Venus in Obama's chart, resulting in a slightly different interpretation of how the expansive public image plays out.

The two also share the Neptune/Ascendant Midpoint at the Aries Point.  McCain's midpoint picture uses a 2.5 degree orb, while Obama's is a little closer.

Obama's birth time allows us to make use of several new AP midpoint pictures.  I neglected to mention OBama's unaspected Uranus in the initial analysis, so it is included in the above table.

Of further interest is that Obama's closest midpoint picture is now AP = unaspected Venus = Uranus/Neptune mentioned in the first line of the table in the Aries Point section.  Because of this being the closest midpoint picture in the chart, I would assign it even greater importance.
