Continuing our discussion from the past four months, the energy of planets in the natal 12th house are often more difficult to tap into than other placements.

Venus is the planet that represents how we relate socially and romantically and is connected to everything aesthetic.  When Venus is in the 12th house, we may display a reluctance to be involved socially, a shyness, or having a reason to keep to one's self.

It's as if the normal socialization process is somehow withdrawn into the deep reaches of the relatively inaccessible 12th house.  There's a sense of being secluded and isolated there, and that image helps us to understand the concept.  It may be easier just to avoid social contact rather than risk exposure.  "Beautiful Mind" John Nash,

At times, people with Venus in the 12th can even be very high-profile celebrities, yet they desire a private life far removed from public scrutiny.  Prince Albert (who married his first cousin Queen Victoria), Princess Grace of Monaco, Cher, actor Robert Duvall, swashbuckler Douglas Fairbanks Sr., rocker Janis Joplin, actress-singer Liza Minnelli, entrepreneurs Donald Trump and Ted Turner.

In yet other cases this self-imposed privacy may be an attempt to hide from publicity since corrupt or criminal behavior could potentially be exposed.  Tele-evangelist Jim Bakker, film director Roman Polanski, mass murderer Gary Gilmore, "Queen of Mean" entrepreneur Leona Helmsley, Branch Davidian leader David Koresh.

Whatever the reason, Venus in the 12th needs to have the comfort and security provided by relative seclusion, if only some of the time.
