The Keys to Making Good Decisions

Good decision making has never been easy.   We may react with apprehension or even abject fear at the prospect of having to make a decision.

When we are faced with any decision, we should:

bullet

identify our options

bullet

gather data that will help us make the best decision

bullet

determine a realistic time frame for finalizing our decision

bullet

objectively evaluate and analyze the options and project the long-range impact of these choices on ourselves and those close to us

bullet

make the decision

bullet

assume responsibility for our decision and not second guess it

Some of the most crucial decisions are those where one option is to just do nothing.  And it's often the easiest option just to resign ourselves to the status quo.  Even if a relationship, job, or any situation becomes intensely uncomfortable or even unbearable, at least we know what to expect.  Deciding to make a change always involves some element of risk.  (Please refer to  Dealing With Change from this site's archives)

In today's world, having access to reams of information (via the Internet, etc.) may be tremendously helpful, but is in reality a mixed blessing.  Eventually though, we must curtail the data accumulation phase and get on with the decision making process.  Otherwise, we can delay decisions indefinitely because we're "still gathering information"

Setting a realistic deadline for making your decision is a crucial component of the process.  This deadline may be imposed on us by the particular situation.  When it isn't, we need to establish a time line that allows adequate data gathering and analysis, yet avoids procrastination.

Objective analysis is also challenging.   Few decisions are black and white or perfectly clear-cut.  Most options have both advantages and disadvantages that we should be able to put in perspective.

Ultimately, we must take the responsibility for our decision, recognizing that it is, after all, our decision.

If you're faced with a difficult decision, keep in mind that a qualified astrologer can help you with the process.
